Meet Our Team

Ben Wei is a surfboard shaper, artist, and musician originally from Oceanside, California now residing in Japan. After falling in love with the country and its people, he decided to move from California to stay in one of Japan’s professional surfing meccas. Growing up in a surf shop, Ben basically earned a Ph.D. in surfboards and wave craft, but after becoming dissatisfied with traditional board designs, he taught himself to shape so that he could bring a new breed of board into the market which he sells in his own shop in Tokyo. Originally from Vancouver, Canada, Evan has lived in Japan since 2003. His career has spanned commercial fishing, English teaching, foundation of marketing agencies, software startups, Japan market entry consulting, and enterprise SaaS software sales. His passions are mentoring and advising startups, traveling, surfing, surfboard shaping, and ocean sailing. Having spent most of his time surfing the frigid waters of Vancouver Island and Hokkaido, he is very happy to now live on the warm Shonan coast where he can surf comfortably year-round.

Peggy is a traditional watercolour, oils and charcoal/conte portrait artist and instructor. Her work has been exhibited throughout Canada, USA, England, Italy, and Japan. She received training in commercial design and illustration in the corporate sign industry in Vancouver Canada, and designed for corporations for over a twelve year period from 1973 to 1985. She has had extensive training in watercolour painting and portraiture through the Federation of Canadian Artists, Metchosin School of the Arts and Fabriano in Aquarello International Symposium workshops in Fabriano Italy.
